What do you do?

I’m the manager at Sterling Apothecary in Chippendale. Along with managing the shop i cut hair in both our salons, the Surry Hills shop has been open for nearly 6 years now.

Where do you live?

Right in the heart of Newtown.

What inspires you?

I’m lucky to be surrounded by incredibly talented hairdressers and barbers – Tony Vacher, the owner of Sterling inspires me on a daily basis. His dedication to keeping traditional techniques and styles alive is something i really respect.

Does what you wear reflect your personality?

That really depends on my mood but i usually have a real casual and functional approach to dressing. I like simple cuts and dark colours.

What article of clothing can’t you live without?

Black Jeans. I have a few beloved pairs and i tend to wear them to the bitter, hole ridden end.

What are the style trends for 2015?

I feel like mens hair is moving more in the direction of 60s styles. I think things will continue along the lines of classic shapes but pushing more towards looser styling. Theres also a bit of a nod to the Sharpie culture happening, think ska, mods, and skinheads. A well executed clean mens haircut will never be out of fashion.

Favourite Bar?

If i had to pick one it would be Mary's in Newtown.

Favourite place to eat?

Hands down favourite - Bodega in Surry Hills.

Where are your favourite places to shop?

The Standard Store in Surry Hills. Maple and Pretty Dog in Newtown.

What music are you listening to?

Ty Segall’s new album Manipulator. Thurston Moore’s The best Day. The War On Drugs. And, The Rolling Stones, always The Rolling Stones.

Who has more style: Sydney or Melbourne?

I feel like its unfair to compare. Its like apples and oranges. I know lots of stylish people in both cities, but i also know some chronic dags in both.
